Dentistry

Dental hygiene is an important part of your pet’s health and can often be the cause of serious illness. If left untreated, dental problems can lead to larger systemic issues in your pet due to oral bacteria entering the blood stream and damaging the kidneys, heart, liver, and other organs.

At James Snow Animal Hospital, we routinely perform dental producers which are carried out while your pet is sedated under general anesthesia. We provide routine teeth cleaning, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatment and surgical extraction of unhealthy teeth, after which your pet’s mouth is rinsed, leaving it fresh and clean.

Signs and symptoms or dental problems include:

  • Bad breath
  • Red and swollen gums
  • Pain or bleeding from mouth
  • Loose or missing teeth
  • Not eating full meals

Since periodontal disease may ultimately have a serious impact on your pet’s well-being, routinely checking your pet’s teeth and mouth at home, as well as scheduling regular check-ups with your veterinarian are very important.
